PIERRE, (KCCR) — A pending retirement is bringing a leadership change to Delta Dental of South Dakota. Delta Dental’s Board of Directors has announced a planned transition for the upcoming retirement of Jeff Miller. Miller is stepping down as President and C-E-O after 26 years with the dental benefits company. He’s been president and C-E-O for four of those 26 years. Replacing Miller will be former Avera Health President and C-E-O Bob Sutton. Sutton served in that capacity from 2018 to 2023. Sutton has served as regional hospital president at Avera St. Mary’s in Pierre along with holding several roles in the health system including human resources. Before his time with Avera, Sutton served as president of the South Dakota Community Foundation for nearly a decade. Delta Dental Board of Directors chair Monty Bechtold says Sutton’s experience, business ties and proven leadership make him well suited for the role. Sutton says Delta Dental is the quote “perfect fit” for him and that he’s excited to join a company where the mission is central to its work. Sutton begins as executive vice president of Delta Dental December 1st.
