Capital Area United Way Kicks Off Annual Campaign Raising $8,000 At Governor’s Football Game Friday

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Capital Area United Way used a football game last Friday to symbolically kick-off it’s 2026-2027 annual campaign. This year’s theme is United is the Way. Executive Director Becky Spoehr says just over eight-thousand dollars was raised for the campaign through sponsors and donations at the game. Capital Area United Way has a goal of 595-thousand dollars that will support 15 local partner agencies and four community impact programs that serve children, families and individuals in Hughes and Stanley County. Those partner agencies help the Capital Area United Way address critical needs including children and youth, family support, health and wellness, basic needs and education. The four community impact programs include Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Delta Dental’s Mobile Bus, Girls on the Run and Vision Screenings conducted by the Lions Club. Donations to the campaign can be made through a workplace giving campaign or online through the Capital Area United Way Facebook page or website at capareaunitedway.org.
