The Pierre Governor tennis team would split its two ESD contests in Huron on Saturday with a 5-4 loss to Watertown but 6-3 win to Brookings.
In the loss to Watertown, Pierre would go 3-3 in singles matches with Eliza Mayer in flight two, Adrian Hand in flight three and Emma Barnett in flight six all picking up wins. Hand and Gemma Stangeland in doubles flight two would get the lone doubles win with Avery Schwartz and Ainsley Dilges in flight three falling 10-9 in the closest match in the 5-4 loss. Schwartz also lost 10-8 in flight four.
In the 6-3 win over Brookings, Hand would finish off an undefeated day as Stangeland would also be 2-0 overall. Elise Bowers in flight one, Mayer and Barnett would all win in singles matches while Bowers and Mayer in flight one would win in doubles. Schwartz and Dilges lost 10-9 again nearly making it a 7-2 win for the Govs.
Pierre moves to 5-11 in duals for the season and will wait until Saturday to play at the Elliot Extravaganza in Aberdeen.
