PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Hughes County Commission is set to meet Tuesday morning at the Hughes County Courthouse. Three public hearings are set to start the meeting. They include a public hearing at nine-am for the proposed 2027 county budget and two public hearings for planning and zoning matters. One is for a rezoning request in the Sunset Pastures Addition while the second is amending a Planned Unit Development zoning area in Inman Outlot One. Second reading will be held for an ordinance that would enact a half-cent county sales tax for owner-occupied property tax reduction and the Commission will consider rejecting bids and proposals for a Juvenile Services Center recreation addition. Commissioners will also meet with Pierre Mayor Todd Johnson to discuss collaboration between the two governments, consider a Pierre Rural Firefighter addition and hear reports from liaisons and department heads. The Hughes County Commission meets at nine-am tomorrow in the second floor Commission room of the Hughes County Courthouse.
