The Pierre Governor tennis team will be on the road this weekend playing both Friday in Mitchell and then on Saturday in Harrisburg for a total of four duals.
The Govs went 1-1 last Thursday beating Rapid City Central, but falling to Brandon Valley in Rapid City pushing their overall record to 3-4 in duals. This weekend, Pierre will see three more AA teams as the Govs will start with Mitchell and Jefferson in Mitchell on Friday. The Kernels are currently 8-3 in duals and 3-0 in the ESD. The Kernels have wins over Brookings, Watertown and Harrisburg. In the second match of the day, the Govs will face Jefferson who are 2-3 in duals with a loss to Mitchell earlier in the year. The Cavs have wins over Brookings and Washington.
On Saturday, the Govs will continue its travel to Harrisburg to face the Tigers and the always tough Class A Sioux Falls Christian Cavaliers. The Tigers are 2-3 and will face Vermillion tonight before the Govs face Harrisburg on Saturday. Even at 2-3, the Tigers do have a win over Brandon Valley, who beat the Govs, and also with a win over Aberdeen Central. Sioux Falls Christian is 5-1 on the season and will also face Vermillion tonight. The Chargers are always tough to face and one of the best Class A teams in the state consistently. The Govs will have their hands full all weekend, but especially on Saturday.
Both days of duals begin at 10:00 AM with Friday’s in Mitchell and then Saturday’s in Harrisburg.
