The Pierre Governor soccer teams would start its four straight home games with a win for the girls over Huron 10-0 and the boys drawing for the second straight game at 2-2.
In the boys game, Pierre would strike first as Caiden Ahartz would net the first goal of the season and Pierre held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half. Huron, though, would answer in the second, scoring two quick goals just about three minutes a part. The Governors would find a way to tie the game back up in the late stages. Jacoby LaRoche would handle the ball through the defense and find the back of the net. Pierre had one final shot in the final seconds, but were unable to get the game winning goal and will settle for the draw to move the record to 0-2-2 on the season. Huron moves to 1-3-1.
The Governor girls would get its fourth straight win and dominated the Tigers leading 4-0 in the first half and scored six second half goals to end the game early. Cameron Larson had four goals in the game to lead the Governors while Aubrey Fischer added another two goals with Sophia Brueggeman, Myah Fravel and Devyn Van Roekel each with a goal. Brittany Sargent had two assists for the Govs as Emlyn Swanson gets her second shutout of the season. Pierre is now 4-0 while Huron falls to 1-4.
The Governors will be off until next Tuesday when the Mitchell Kernels come to town. The boys will play first at 4:00 with the girls to follow at the PILC Fields in Pierre.
