The Pierre Governor competitive cheer and dance teams will be on the floor for the first time this season on Saturday as the Govs travel out to Aberdeen Central.
The Governors will be one of 11 teams in total at the Aberdeen Central Invite as the season begins. Pierre will be busy before the Labor Day weekend with three competitions between this Saturday and next week Saturday, including the one home invite of the season. Pierre will average an invite a week leading up to the state meet near the end of October. This year’s teams will feature five seniors in total with three on the dance team and four on the cheer team. Both Peyton Jenkins and Mindy Riggle will compete for both the dance and cheer teams while Laynee Sitzman lines out the three seniors for this year’s team. On the cheer team, Chloe Iedema and Grace O’Neill will join Jenkins and Riggle as the four seniors. Pierre will be in Aberdeen today before heading to Mitchell next week Thursday and then hosting the Pierre invite the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
The cheer and dance competition begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Aberdeen Central High School.
