Even though the Sully Buttes Charger football team moved up to 9A from 9B, their recent rival, Faulkton Area did the same thing and the two teams will meet in Faulkton to open up the season.
The Chargers and Trojans are meeting for the sixth time over the last four years and the fifth time in just the last three years after playing twice in each of the last two seasons. Two years ago, Sully Buttes lost the first game against the Trojans before coming back and taking the state championship against Faulkton. Then last year, Sully Buttes would win the regular season matchup, but the Trojans would end the Chargers season in the 9B quarterfinal. Heading into the season, both teams don’t lose a lot in numbers of seniors who graduated, but they both lost important pieces to the team as both will have a new man be the quarterback. For Sully Buttes, Easton Moore will take the snaps for the Chargers as he heads into his sophomore season. The Barber twins also head into their sophomore campaigns and will get a load of work both offensively and defensively.
