The Pierre Governor golf team did not graduate anybody from last season’s varsity team. This year, the golf team continues to build with even more competing for the six varsity spots.
Pierre has been running qualifying days trying to determine the top six heading into the first week of the season which begins on Monday and Tuesday with a trip out to the eastern side of the state. There are a lot of the guys who have a shot to be in the top six with a good showing, but it shows that you have to be good those three days because of how many are close to inside the top six while also being very good. Tiffany Benham, head coach of the Governors says it’s a challenge to the coaching staff but certainly a good problem to have…
One of the things Benham really likes heading into the season is seeing the work the guys have put in throughout the summer…
Even after not having any seniors last year on varsity, there are still going to be middle school golfers and freshmen battling for spots throughout the year…
Pierre begins the season on Monday at Brandon before playing at Willow Run in Sioux Falls on Tuesday.
