After three shutouts on day one, there would be three comeback wins on day two at the American Legion Baseball State tournament in Rapid City on Wednesday including two of the games being elimination games.
In the first game Harrisburg opened up with a 5-0 lead in the top of the third before Yankton started to mount its comeback. After Beck Ryken gave up six runs in which he gave up five runs all season, Yankton scored two runs in the third and a run in the fourth and trailed 6-3 in the bottom of the sixth before scoring four runs on two hits to take a 7-6 lead and eliminating Harrisburg. In game two, Brandon Valley also started strong with a 3-0 lead in the first inning on three extra base hits, Watertown had to fight back. Post 17 held BV to just one hit the rest of the game and a safety squeeze in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3 before Jaxon Falak had a two RBI single in the eighth to take the lead and hold on the for the win.
In the double elimination games, Rapid City Post 320 opened up with a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Sioux Falls West came back to score two runs in the bottom of the first and took a three run lead in the second as Brody Jacobson had two RBIs and Boston Bryant got the final two RBIs to get the 7-2 win as Post 320 was held to just three hits. In the last game of the night, after a two hour weather delay, Rapid City Post 22 dominated its way to a 13-3 win as Kain McLeod had three RBIs to lead the Hardhats to a 2-0 record while Wyatt Reeder had an opposite field home run.
Watertown will face Rapid City Post 320 while Yankton takes on Brookings in the elimination games while Sioux Falls West and Rapid City Post 22 will wrap up the night with both teams at 2-0, all at Fitzgerald Stadium in Rapid City.
