PIERRE, (KCCR) — Statewide voter turnout in Tuesday’s Republican runoff election for Governor was nearly 36-percent at 35-point-nine-two percent. County by county numbers fared much better. Voter turnout in Hughes County was 53-point-three percent while turnout in Stanley County was 51-point-nine-five percent. In Lyman County, 42-percent of registered Republicans cast ballots in the election. In Jones County, it was 51-and-a-half percent. Sully County voter turnout was 54-and-a-half percent and in Potter County it was 46-percent. Across the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in Dewey and Ziebach County, voter turnout was 31-percent in Dewey and 29-percent in Ziebach. South of there, 49-percent of registered Republicans in Haakon County took time to vote with 39-percent turnout in Jackson County. To the east in Mellette County, voter turnout was 36-percent and in Tripp County 44-percent. Heading north into Brule and Buffalo Counties, voter turnout was identical at 37-percent. Hyde County saw 45-percent voter turnout with Hand County logging voter turnout at 44-percent. The results will be certified as county commissions hold canvases in the next week. The statewide canvass will be held August 4th.
