The Senior Legion state tournament will begin today out in Rapid City as eight teams will battle for the state title and a spot in the Central Plains Regional in Mandan, North Dakota next week.
Rapid City Post 22, the one seed and the host, will be the team to close out the night facing the eight seed Watertown in the final game of day one. Sioux Falls West will face Harrisburg in the first game of the day in the 2-7 matchup before Brandon Valley takes on Brookings in the 4-5 game. Yankton and Rapid City Post 320 will play the third game of the day before the final game. It’s a double elimination tournament so all eight teams will play again on Wednesday with the first two teams being eliminated. The tournament will run through Saturday with a chance of two games to determine the state champion. The Central Plains Regional Tournament is scheduled to be in Mandan, North Dakota next week and only one team from South Dakota will join the six team field.
