Pierre Post 8 Jr. Legion’s season would come to an end on Thursday with a game two loss to Brandon Valley Red on the road with an 8-7 defeat, coming up just short of forcing a winner-take-all game three.
BV Red would open with a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before the Eights would strike for four runs in the bottom of the second as Cole Hand would drive in two runs with a single and an error to tie the game at 2-2 before Maddox Dokken and Brecken Fuhrman would each single to give the eights a 4-2 lead. Tace Palacek would add on a run in the bottom of the third to lead 5-3 for the Eights before Brandon Valley would reclaim it in the top of the fifth. However, Hand would deliver a two RBI single in the bottom of the fifth give the Eights a 7-6 lead, but an RBI triple followed by a sacrifice fly led Brandon Valley to an 8-7 win ending the Eights season. Pierre finished with five errors defensively as Fuhrman allowed three unearned runs of the six given up on the mound through four and a third innings on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Janzen Arrow allowed two runs on three hits with three strikeouts over the final two and two thirds innings. Hand and Tucker Swenson each had three hits as Swenson finished the two game series with six hits for Pierre. Fuhrman also had two hits.
Pierre finishes the season at 23-13-1 on the year just two wins shy of making the state tournament.
