PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Fort Thompson man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison on firearms charge. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says U-S District Judge Eric Schulte sentenced 42 year-old Tigh Bagola to a seven year federal prison term on July 20th. Three years of supervised release and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund is also a part of Bagola’s sentence. Bagola was indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of Using or Carrying a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence. He pleaded guilty in April. Parsons says Bagola was walking in Fort Thompson on July 5th of 2023 when he encountered the eventual victims. Bagola argued with the victims and while doing so, had taken out a handgun. Bagola then proceeded to fire the gun in the direction of the victims then left the scene. The case was a part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to repel illegal immigration and eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations. Bagola was placed in the custody of the U-S Marshals Service to begin his sentence.
