The Pierre Post 8 Jr. Legion team will also be starting its playoff run this evening trying to get back to the state tournament since hosting the tournament back in 2024 as the Eights take on Brandon Valley Red Post 131.
The two teams have not played this season and actually are tied in points and have the same record against common opponents so the only reason why Brandon Valley is hosting instead of Pierre is because BV Red went 12-3 in the regular season while Pierre finished at 11-9. Just like the senior legion, the Eights Jr. Legion is playing its best baseball coming in after finishing the South Dakota season winning five of the last six games including a split the number one seed, Post 22 Expos. Post 8 has five guys hitting over .300 heading into the playoffs with Jace Hand leading the team at .380 while Hayden Northrup is hitting .326. Maddox Dokken, Brecken Fuhrman and Tace Palecek are all hitting over .300 as Hand, Fuhrman and Kaden Goodlander each have over 20 RBIs. The pitching staff has been excellent for the Jr. Legion with a 2.82 team ERA and a WHIP under two at 1.60.
First pitch of game one is at 5:00 tonight at Aspen Park in Brandon. Game two will be at 11:00 on Thursday, but both game two and the if necessary game three will be played at Valley Springs with the other Brandon Valley team hosting games two and three at Aspen Park on Thursday.
