All three games this weekend for the Oahe Zap would end in heart break as the Casper Spuds would walk off the Zap Friday, Saturday and Sunday sweeping the four game series and securing home field advantage in the first round playoff series.
Gage Dickerson had a walk off single on Friday for the Spuds to win 8-7. An error with two outs would score the game winning run on Saturday for Casper to win 9-8, after the Zap came back from a four run deficit to tie the game at 8-8. And then on Sunday, with the Zap leading 8-7 in the bottom of the ninth, Andrew Witt had a two RBI double for the third straight walk off win for Casper. Oahe had an 8-3 lead after the sixth inning, but Casper would score two runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to get the comeback win. Connor Goldberg and Gabe Cantona each had two RBIs for the Zap while Dominic DeCarlo and Emmanuel Ealey each drove in a run. Cantona and Ty Farwell each had a double as both teams rounded up 12 hits in the game. Goldberg would have three of the 12. It pushes the Zap to now a five game losing streak heading into the final week of the season. Spearfish has clinched a spot into the championship series and will be the team to host the series with the other two teams playing in a best-of-three playoff series to determine who will face Spearfish for the Independence League title. With the four losses, Casper is now going to host the Zap for the other championship spot next week.
Before the playoffs get here, Oahe will be home one more time this summer as they host the Bison over the next three days with a doubleheader on Tuesday. First pitch is at 6:05 tonight and then the doubleheader starting at 5:35 on Tuesday and then a 7:05 first pitch on Wednesday for the final home game of the year all against the Bison and all at Hyde Stadium.
