The Oahe Zap would storm out to a doubleheader sweep of the Spearfish Sasquatch on Tuesday outscoring Spearfish 23-7 winning the first game 13-3 and then winning 10-4 in the second game moving to a game and a half behind the Casper Spuds.
Its three straight wins against the Sasquatch and the Zap have won five of the last six overall as Oahe moves over .500 for the first time this season at now 19-18. A nine run fifth inning would end the first game early with the 10 run rule as the Zap trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of fourth before taking a 4-3 lead. Cy Taylor and Connor Goldberg would have two RBIs while eight of the nine guys in the order had an RBI. Goldberg, Mason Melton and Emmanuel Ealey each had two hits. Oahe took advantage of three Spearfish errors to score seven unearned runs in the win. Pierce Hollowell would get the win on the mound giving up three runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
In game two, Spearfish again led 1-0 after the top of the first and scored a run in the first four innings leading 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third and then led 4-3 after the top of the fourth. But it would be a six run bottom of the fourth giving Oahe the lead for good. Dominic DeCarlo would have the two RBI double to give the Zap the 6-4 lead as he finished with a game high three RBIs as he doubled twice along with Blake Imhoff Dillon Bowie and Melton all having a double. Ty Farwell, Goldberg, Quinn Ludvigsen and Imhoff each had an RBI in the win. Mason Manning would get the win on the mound giving up four runs, two earned, on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts over six innings of work.
Oahe is now 19-18 and will look for the four game sweep of the Sasquatch tonight with first pitch at 6:05 before heading to Casper to take on the Spuds in a huge four game series.
