PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission is meeting tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building. In special business, action will be taken to fill a City Commission seat left vacant with the election of Commissioner Todd Johnson as Mayor in the June 2nd Primary Election. The new Commissioner will be appointed, then sworn-in, at which time Commissioner assignments for Committee liaisons will be assigned. The Commission will consider approval of a six-item consent calendar before moving on to new business. The Commission will hear an audit update from Casey Peterson, L-L-C and will consider two street closure requests for construction projects. The first request comes from Griese Properties for elevated excavation on Lowell Street and the second from Jeremy Thomas Construction for River Cities Public Transit on Harrison Avenue. Commissioners will consider approval of a change order and final payment for the Ridgeway Place storm drain project, a change order for a bucket truck purchase for the Electric Department and first reading of 2025 budget carryovers. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 pm.
