It’s now the longest winning streak of the season for the Oahe Zap as they finished off a great Fourth of July Weekend winning all three games by the 10 run rule including Sunday’s 14-3 win over the Bison Baseball team.
Oahe would knock off the Capital City Aviators 16-1 Friday with a rained shortened game as the Zap would win in just five innings. Then Oahe finished the two game sweep of the Aviators with a 13-3 win on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Ridge Leimbach would throw a seven inning complete game allowing three runs on seven hits with five walks and seven strikeouts as he moves to a 3-2 record on the mound with the Zap having just a 1.65 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 29 and two thirds innings, the most on the team. He had the help from Garren Gledhill’s big day as he hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to take a 12-1 lead. Gledhill had a two RBI double on top of it driving in six runs for the Zap. Oahe led 5-0 after two innings before the Bison would score in the top of the fourth. Dane Gilbert had two RBIs and Mason Melton, Ty Farwell and Dominic DeCarlo each had an RBI. The five straight wins move the Zap to now 14-16 on the season and are only a game and a half back of the Casper Spuds for second place in the Independence League with three weeks left to play in the season. Casper has lost its last five straight.
Oahe will finish up 12 straight days of games hosting the Bison tonight before having three days off. First pitch tonight is at 6:05 at Hyde Stadium in Pierre.
