For the final time of the regular season, Pierre Post 8 will be at home as they take on Huron Post 7 in a doubleheader with just four games remaining in the South Dakota season for the Eights.
Pierre will look for a doubleheader sweep of Huron who is sitting at the bottom of the standings at 1-16 after losing to Brookings twice on Wednesday. Huron split with Aberdeen in its only win in South Dakota games to this point of the season. The Eights want to guarantee an above .500 season in South Dakota games with a sweep of Huron as the Eights are 11-10 in South Dakota games. While the season still goes until July 17, Pierre will host Huron before facing Watertown on Monday, July 6 to finish out the South Dakota schedule. With a trip to the Gopher Classic next weekend, Pierre still will have at least four games left in the regular season after South Dakota games are done.
Pierre will look for a better offensive output today after getting only eight hits in two games on Tuesday scoring just one run in total even still splitting with Mitchell. Pierre is still playing some of its best baseball having won seven of the last nine games and are looking to get to .500 for the entire season sitting at 12-14.
Coverage of the final home doubleheader begins at 4:45 with first pitch at 5:00 tonight at Hyde Stadium in Pierre with both games on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
