Pierre Post 8 remains at home this week and will start the week facing Palace City Mitchell Post 18 in a doubleheader this afternoon with both teams playing good baseball over the last couple of weeks.
Pierre started its 10 game homestand last Friday and are 5-1 in the home stand, 6-2 in its last eight games and 10-3 in the last 13 South Dakota games and over .500 in South Dakota play for the first time this season. Pierre could get to .500 overall with a sweep this evening against Post 18. However, Mitchell is playing well as of late too. Palace City is 8-7 in South Dakota games and 13-11 overall, but have won five straight and six of the last seven with a split of Harrisburg and sweep of Huron dating back to last week Tuesday. These two teams are next to each other in the standings fighting for a home series in the playoffs. Mitchell is hitting .296 as a team but are hitting .362 in the last seven games overall. Pierre has moved to a .291 batting average as a team but are hitting .354 in the last eight games including 15 extra base hits while scoring eight runs per game. Pierre has every pitcher available to start the week against Mitchell with a doubleheader against Huron on Thursday and then a doubleheader against Watertown next week Monday on the road.
