PIERRE, (KCCR) — An Eagle Butte woman has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on murder and arson charges. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says 27 year-old Jimi Jo Collins will also have to serve three years of supervised release after the 30 years of prison time ends. Collins was indicted by a federal grand jury in June of 2025 and pleaded guilty in March. Parsons says in March of 2025 Collins set fire to a home in Eagle Butte that was occupied by multiple people. While many of those inside escaped the home, two people inside were unable to get out and died. Parsons says Collins intentionally set fire to the mobile home because she thought someone in the home had broken windows on her car. He calls Collins actions a malevolent act that burned two people alive and that the horror and tragic pointlessness of it all is unimaginable. Collins was taken by the U-S Marshals Service to begin serving her 30 year sentence.
