The homestand continues today as Pierre Post 8 will host the Aberdeen Smittys as the Eights will look for a sweep to get over .500 in South Dakota games for the first time this season.
Pierre had its first chance to do so on Monday against the Renner Royals but fell in the top of the seventh of game one, although they came back to get the win in game two in two highly competitive games as the Eights got late clutch hitting to come back from a 4-3 deficit scoring the final four runs to win game two 7-4 staying just one game under .500. Pierre started the season 0-6 in South Dakota games and are now 8-9 winning eight of the last 11 and is fighting for a home first round series in the postseason. Aberdeen on the flip side, is trying to climb from the bottom of the standings. At 3-8 in South Dakota games and 7-13 overall, the Smittys are in 14th place just ahead of Huron who is currently sitting in the final playoff position. Aberdeen has splits with Renner, Watertown and Huron. While the bats are hitting well for Aberdeen with an above .300 average as a team, the team ERA sits at over five and have 60 unearned runs on the season. This is the third straight home doubleheader of the five straight overall for the Eights.
Coverage today begins at 2:45 with first pitch at 3:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
