FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Weekend rains has forced the closure of Bad River Road just south of Fort Pierre. The eight-mile closure runs from the junction with U-S Highway 83 to just past the entrance to the Victory Center Bible Camp. Up to two-inches of rain fell across parts of Stanley County Saturday night into Sunday. A detour in place around the Powell Creek Bridge replacement project needs repairs and is impassible. It was washed out due to the rain fall. Contractors will make repairs to the detour as soon as conditions allow. There are limited chances for rain from Tuesday to Thursday where rain chances increase to 60-percent Thursday night. B-X Civil and Construction of Dell Rapids was awarded the bid on the 714-thousand dollar project. The overall completion date for the structure replacement is November 20th. Traffic will need to use alternate routes around the closure until further notice.
