The Oahe Zap would fall in a high scoring 11-10 game Saturday evening at Hyde Stadium to the Spearfish Sasquatch, but Sunday’s game for the first time this season would be rained out.
On Saturday Spearfish would only score in three innings but they were massive runs each time as the Sasquatch took a 7-2 lead in the third on a seven run inning while scoring three in the eighth to take a 10-4 lead and after Oahe tied the game at 10-10, Spearfish would get the winning run in the top of the ninth with a two out double before striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Zap. All but four starters combined between both teams would get at least a hit with four Zap players recording multiple hits and six Sasquatch players recording multiple hits and four getting three hits each as Spearfish had 17 in total while the Zap had 11. Cy Taylor, Garren Gledhill and Emmanuel Ealey each had a double for the Zap as Gledhill and Taylor had back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 10 apiece. Taylor, along with Ty Farwell and Blake Imhoff all drove in two runs. Noah Betanco had two doubles for the Sasquatch including the double the in the top of the ninth as the game winning hit as he had three RBIs. Wilson Kieffer and JJ Manuel each had three RBIs as well.
Oahe falls to 4-15 after the now three game sweep from Spearfish as the Sasquatch improve to 16-4. Sunday’s game was rained out and there is no make up date yet. Oahe won’t play again until Thursday when they host the Capital City Aviators for a four game series at Hyde Stadium in Pierre.
