Pierre Post 8 would sweep Spearfish Post 164 in two five inning games winning 15-2 in game one and then 10-0 in game two with Hudson Shaffer throwing a five inning no-hitter at home on Friday.
In game one, Pierre would strike for 11 runs on 10 hits as Pierre finished the first game with four extra base hits, two doubles and two triples as Will Eilers would go 3-3 with three RBIs as Carter Schiefelbein, Hudson Stoeser, Bridger Babcock and Alec Eilers each had two RBIs. Sutton Sonnenschein, Jackson Goodman and Aydan Johnson each had an RBI and everybody in the starting lineup recorded a base hit in the win. Pierre had 11 in the first, three runs in the second and a run in the fourth. Will Danburg would go the distance giving up two runs on four hits with four walks and seven strikeouts as the two runs would not score until the top of the fifth.
Shaffer would allow just three base runners on 64 pitches giving up just two walks and had two strikeouts in the five inning no-hitter. He would get all the run support he needed with a two run first inning, but a five run third and three run fourth put the Eights up 10-0 as Porter Hunsley had the two RBI single to make it 10-0 as he and Schiefelbein each had two RBIs. Goodman and Alec Eilers had an RBI each and Will Eilers would go 2-2 with a double as he finished the doubleheader going 5-5 at the plate. It adds on to the offense Pierre saw on Wednesday with 20 runs in two games on Wednesday and 25 runs on Friday for 45 runs in the last four games.
Pierre improves to 8-12 on the season and now 7-8 in South Dakota play. The Eights will face Renner on Monday with a 5:00 first pitch and coverage beginning at 4:45 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
