PIERRE, (KCCR) — A national land management, brokerage, appraisal and energy solutions firm is seeking sealed bids for the sale of the Gunsmoke Ranch in Stanley County. The Peoples Company has set a bid date of Thursday July 30th at four-p-m Central Time to receive bids on the 34-thousand acre dryland farming operation. The ranch is comprised of approximately 31-thousand 345 F-S-A cropland acres in a large footprint that is certified organic by the U-S Department of Agriculture. That certification provides immediate access to premium grain markets. The Gunsmoke Ranch has supported a diverse crop rotation including winter wheat, field peas and other small grains. The operation is being offered as a unified landholding and not separate parcels. Peoples Company president Steve Bruere says the land provides recreational or renewable energy opportunities. The north headquarters has a shop, storage buildings, a residential home and 376-thousand bushels of storage. The south site has access to U-S Highway 14 and a 600-thousand bushel capacity. The property is currently being leased to a long-term reputable operator that has made significant improvements in recent years.
