PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission was presented a detailed and extensive 45 minute review of a utility rate study conducted by Missouri River Energy Services. The study is suggesting the city set rates at five-percent each year from 2027 to 2030 on electric, water and wastewater. Evan Leebens with M-R-E-S says the power purchased by the city is not controlled locally…
Leebens says M-R-E-S expects water usage to fall over the time frame for the rate increases…
Leebens compared Pierre’s rates to other similar sized cities and says they are comparable if not lower than other cities…
The 38-page rate study will be put on the City of Pierre website for public inspection.
