Pierre Post 8 still had a shot at winning the pool, all the way throughout the game on Sunday, but the Eights would fall 5-2 to Columbus, Nebraska to finish the Dakota Classic going 1-3.
Pierre had to win and not allow six runs or more and they accomplished the run goal, but Pierre could only get three hits in the game which included a solo shot by Carter Schiefelbein to lead off the bottom of the first, the second one in two games. Columbus opened up with a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before the Eights tied the game at 2-2. Columbus got a run in the third and then added two more runs in the top of the sixth to create the separation needed to win the game and the pool going 3-1.
