Pierre Post 8 will open up the Dakota Classic today in Sioux Falls and will face a South Dakota opponent as the Eights take on Yankton Post 12 this afternoon as part of a four game pool play.
Pierre is in one of two five team pools where the other six have six teams so the Eights will play every team in the pool to determine the winner while sub pools will be used to help start to determine winners of the six team pools. The Eights will play will one game today, against Yankton before a morning and evening game on Saturday and then a Sunday afternoon game to wrap up the four game guarantee. Yankton is coming in at 7-2 to the first game of the tournament. Yankton swept Pierre during the high school season way back in the first doubleheader of the spring season. After facing Yankton, Pierre will play Ralston, Nebraska at 9:30 Saturday morning and then finishing Saturday playing the final game against Kindred, North Dakota at 7:30. The Eights will be the last game of pool play for their pool facing Columbus, Nebraska at 12:00 on Sunday and then will see how they do in the pool. Only pool winners will advance to the quarterfinals which will all quarterfinal games will be played at 6:30 Sunday evening. The semifinals will be played at 9:00 AM Monday morning with the championship set for 11:30.

Being the first game of the day on Friday and Saturday, coverage will start at 2:15 today and 9:15 AM on Saturday. Jon Winkler will have the call this weekend.
