For the first time this summer, Pierre Post 8 will take on a non-South Dakota team as the Eights head to Bismarck, North Dakota to face the Governors Post 1 team in a doubleheader.
Pierre is coming off the split of the doubleheader against Brandon Valley on Monday with two low scoring games as Pierre is now 3-7 on the season and while they get a breath away from South Dakota games, it does not stop with strong competition. Bismarck is coming in at 4-2 on the season after not playing Fargo Post 400 last night at home. The game was called off because of the weather in the Bismarck area so pitching was saved heading into tonight’s games. The Governors went 26-19 last season and have been an above .500 team for over 20 straight seasons. Pierre and Bismarck split last year’s doubleheader with the Governors winning game one 8-5 and Pierre coming back to win game two 15-11 with an eight run sixth inning. Pierre will play its third and fourth game already of the week with still another four games still to go before the end of weekend.
Coverage this evening begins at 4:45 with first pitch at 5:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
