This past weekend, teams from around the state would meet in Aberdeen competing in the 2026 Clay Target League State Tournament as the Pierre Shooters would get third place in the skeet shooting while Stanley County finished in ninth with Ann Tjeerdsma winning a state title in the female novice trap shoot.
In the skeet shooting, Pierre would score a 433 as a team which was jus ten points back of Chamberlain for second and 29 points back of Belle Fourche would win the team state title with a 462. Stanley County would finish with a 387. Starting in the varsity ranks, Teyson Stout would tie for fifth for Pierre with a 94, two back of the state title. Colton Cass would finish in 15th at 88 while Taynen Stout would be 20th and Logan Steiner at 29th for Pierre. Mason Stoeser had the best finish for Stanley County at 19th while Witt Myers was 28th. Chase Meyer was tied for 35th while Wyatt Schilling was 38th and Pierreās Rowdy Menning was 37th. Kaylee Baluert was the lone varsity female for Pierre competing as she finished in third with a 71, eight back of the state title. Cooper Gloe and Kayden Lachnit had top five finishes on the JV side for Pierre with Gloe in fourth in Lachnit in fifth.
Also on the weekend, it was the trap shooting state championships. In the 2A state competition Pierre would get a state champion as Tjeerdsma would shoot a 77 in the female novice division, one better than second place and seven better than third. Teammate Ella Oxford was fourth with a 68. had a third place finish from Menning in the varsity ranks with teammate Treyson Stout placing fourth as Menning finished with a 95, three back of the state title and Stout also had a 95. Taynen Stout finished tied for 11th with Cass rounding out the top 30 with a 27th place finish. Brianna Roman would get 12th as the lone varsity female competitor for Pierre as she finished with a 78. Blauert would get a ninth place finish in the JV trap shooting as Zaden Crane was 21st for Pierre in the male novice division.
In the 1A state competition, Lyman would get a state champion as Gabe Smith would win the JV male state title with a 97, seven better than second place.
