With the rubber match of the three game set between Oahe and Casper on Sunday, the Spuds would score two runs in the eighth to get the lead and hold on for an 8-7 win over the Zap.
Pierre native, Ridge Leimbach would come in in relief on Sunday and went four and two thirds innings allowing four hits with four walks and five strikeouts, but the two runs in his last inning of work would give him the loss on the mound as a one out single tied the game and then a two out single gave the Spuds the lead in the top of the eighth. In the bottom half of the eighth and ninth, the Zap were retired in order and never got the tying base runner on. Oahe made the first comeback happen, after trailing 6-2, Oahe had a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-3 and then had two runs in the sixth and seventh to take their first lead of the game. Ty Farwell had two hits including the lone extra base hit, a double, along with two RBIs which pulled the Zap within one. The loss drops the Zap to 3-9 on the season while Casper improves to 6-5. Heading into next week, Spearfish, the other team in the Independence League competing for a title, is 6-2.
Oahe will open a two game set on the road in Spearfish on Monday. First pitch is at 7:05 Central Time Monday.
