May of 2026 was the best May for air travel out of Pierre since 2022 when one-thousand 488 people used Pierre Regional to travel. Pierre is averaging 14-hundred 25 passengers per month. Last month, SkyWest agreed to provide four additional flights to both Pierre and Watertown in October and November for increased passenger capacity during the pheasant season. Those flights will be made without the benefit of a federal subsidy from the Essential Air Service Program.
