Day one of the Track and Field state meet is in the books and several placed inside the top ten in final competition including a second place finish for Pierre.
The sprint medley relay race would place second as Jerren Deal, George Rapp, Carter Schiefelbein and Caleb Morris would get the best finish of the first day in a final of Central South Dakota. Continuing with Pierre, Corde Austin would place sixth in the jump while Sorrine Ekle would get seventh in the girls shot put with Peyton Dillman getting ninth in the triple jump. The girls 4×800 relay would get eighth place with Devyn Van Roekel, Gwen Richter, Harper Shaffer and Emery Larson running. The sprint medley relay race would get tenth ran by Aubrey Fischer, Reed Curry, Zoey Bauer and Larson.
Jones County
BreAna Aske would have the other top ten finish as the Jones County Coyote would place third in the long jump. The team of Aubrey Tucker, Addison Rankin, Molly Nix and Julia Kinsley would get 11th in the 4×800 relay.
Stanley County
Trevor Caldwell would wrap up his shot put throwing season getting 21st for the Stanley County Buffaloes.
Sully Buttes
The Sully Buttes Chargers had two throw the discus on Thursday with Easton Moore getting 17th and Cooper Falkenhagen 24th.
Gettysburg
Skyler Oster, Beth Seuer, Finlee Heien and Emma Schlachter would get 11th in the sprint medley relay race for the Gettysburg Battlers on Thursday.
Lyman
The Lyman Raiders would see Desmarius McGhee get a 13th place finish in the discus while Brooke Montgomery would be 18th in the long jump.
Highmore-Harrold
A couple of Highmore-Harrold Pirates finished their season with final events as Destiny McCauley was 15th in the discus throw while the team of Emma Salathe, Delia Ginsbach, Jaylynn Knox and Mireya LeBeaux were 23rd in the 4×800 relay.
