PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man was arrested Wednesday morning following a brief chase. Pierre Police Captain Kyle Cummings says an officer was on Garfield Avenue around 10:45 am when the officer noticed a vehicle traveling north on Garfield at what appeared to above the posted speed limit. The officer also discovered the vehicle’s registered owner had an active bench warrant for his arrest. The officer locked on to the vehicle with radar at 40 miles an hour and proceeded to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle however failed to stop and continued to drive to a residence on Sandstone Place. Once the vehicle stopped, the driver, 33 year-old Lucas Neuhauser of Pierre was arrested and transported to the Hughes County Jail on charges including speeding, eluding and the active bench warrant.
