The Class B State Golf Tournament tees off today in Brookings as the girls tournament will be at the Edgebrook Golf Course while the Brookings Country Club will host the boys tournament.
For the Class B girls, the Miller Rustlers will see a full team as Kaihlyn Anderberg, Sydney Asmus, Bailey Brueggeman and Jayce Pugh will be competing as Pugh finished in third place at last year’s state tournament while Anderberg was sixth while the team placed second, just 12 strokes behind Dell Rapids St. Mary’s. Other local girls competing is Berkley Birney for the Sully Buttes Chargers while Brynlie Ahlemeier of Gettysburg and Tayah Anderson of Jones County will also be competing individually as the only qualifiers from their respective schools.
For the Class B boys, Stanley County, Gettysburg, Miller and Lyman will be competing on the team score as the Buffaloes will have just the three there competing with James Fosheim, Joe Malm and Ian Schweitzer. Sully Buttes will have both Gavin Colson and Lincoln Olson competing. Gettysburg has Jarand Chase, Wiley Cronin, Mason Goebel and Jace Wager, Miller will have Brecken Anderberg, Derek Brueggeman, Oliver Fritzsche, Jorryn Heilman and Luke Norden all there to compete. Lyman’s team consists of MJ Diehm, Canyon Garnos, Red Sazue and Gabe Smith. Jones County will also have Joey Ranking competing individually. Sully Buttes’ Colson is looking for another state title after finishing second, just three shots back of Wall’s Trevor Schulz who is looking for back-t0-back state titles. Colson won the title in 2024.
Tee time is at 8:00 AM at both golf courses to kick off the state tournament.
