McKenzi Flottmeyer, senior on the Pierre Governor softball team was named to the 2026 All-ESD team on Tuesday as the lone Governor to make this year’s team.
Flottmeyer would throw the most innings for the Governors during the regular season at 59.1 innings going 4-4 in the circle while striking out 66 batters, over one per inning. Her ERA was at 7.79 but her WHIP was barely over two at 2.06. Opponents hit .350 off Flottmeyer as she did through a shutout against Aberdeen Central in the opening game of the year. She had a season high 12 strikeouts in the win against Watertown and had 11 strikeouts in the win against Mitchell. Flottmeyer also hit .312 on the season with two doubles and drove in four runs. She had three hits in the loss against Tea a couple of weeks ago.
Harrisburg would finish with the team high five players on the 2026 ESD team with Brandon Valley having four members with a fifth as an honorable mention. Brookings would get four players with Mitchell, Watertown and Yankton each had one with Tea placing two. Eight of the 19 players were seniors.
