Pierre native, Ridge Leimbach would make his debut for the Oahe Zap on Sunday and after five innings on the mound, he would be the winning pitcher in the 10-8 Zap victory of the Casper Spuds.
Oahe would drop the first two games of the series with 8-5 and 5-4 losses as the Zap had leads in both games, but were unable to hold onto them with the Spuds scoring five runs in the fourth on Friday to help seal a win and then scoring in the eighth of the second game on Saturday to move to 2-0. But in game three, while the Zap would go down early, they would score five runs in the second and another two in the third to lead 7-2 after three innings to give Leimbach the run support as he went five innings on the mound giving up five hits, three runs, two earned on five walks and seven strikeouts. Leimbach, who played for Emporia State last year, but ended up redshirting, finally got back on the mound in a game…
Jamy Habeger, head coach of the Zap says he loves seeing Leimbach on the mound..
Gavin Fraser would come up huge having three RBIs with three hits to help get the Zap the early lead. But it would be the Spuds who started to mount a comeback with a 7-4 score after six and a half and it was 9-8 heading into the bottom of the eighth before the Zap would get one more run in the bottom half of the eighth. Getting the first win, Habeger says feels great…
Oahe will now travel to Spearfish for a three game series which begins on Monday. First pitch is at 7:05 Central Time Monday and Tuesday with a 12:05 start on Wednesday.
