The Oahe Zap, the summer collegiate team in Pierre, will open its season tonight as the Casper Spuds will be in town for a three game series to kick off the 2026 Independence Baseball League.
The Zap were the runners up in the ILB last season to the Spearfish Sasquatch after having an incredible second half of the season reaching the ILB championship for the first time in team history. Overall the Zap went 26-27, but this year the Zap look to have its best finishing season in the 48 game year. Of the 48 games, 30 will be played at Hyde Stadium including nine of the first 12 games. Oahe will play Casper and Spearfish who can qualify for the championship series while also playing the Capital City Aviators out of Southeast Wyoming and Bison Baseball team who are based out of Pierre. Jamy Habeger returns as head coach, the only head coach in the three year Zap history and it will be Habeger’s fifth straight season being a head coach in Pierre and sixth straight year coaching in Pierre. Brady Glenn returns for one final year in Pierre as he originally came to Pierre to play for the Trappers and has spent every summer in the Capital City. Habeger says it’s a testament to the community and how much he loves playing here…

First pitch is at 6:05 tonight and tomorrow with Sunday’s first pitch at 5:05. All home games are scheduled for 6:05 Monday-Saturday with 5:05 games on Sundays throughout the season.
