The Pierre Governor tennis team would sit in fourth place after the first day of the 2026 State Tennis Tournament in Rapid City with a total of 221 points and three flights still fighting for a championship.
Pierre would open up the day in doubles all winning their first round matches with doubles flight two of Levi Hight and Brady Lowery and doubles flight three of Jacoby LaRoche and Marty Blanchette reaching the semifinals. Both doubles flights would fall and will play for the third place on day two. Doubles flight one of Lucas Hight and Noah Lueking would win in the first round, but fall in the quarterfinals and fifth place semifinals eliminating the team from the tournament.
For singles, Lueking in flight two, Lowery in flight four and Blanchette in flight six all will be in the semifinals on the final day as Lueking would upset the two seed in the quarterfinals and Blanchette as the five seed would upset the four seed. Lowery, the four seed, would win his lone singles match to reach the semifinals. Levi Hight in flight three and LaRoche in flight five went 1-1 yesterday and are in the fifth place semifinals. Lucas Hight would fall in the first round and it pushes him all the way to the consolation championship.
With a total of 221 to start Tuesday, Pierre is within 45 points of second place Rapid City Christian. Sioux Falls Christian leads the team score at 360 after day one. You can see a full list of results with brackets and team scores by following the link below.
