Charlee Williams-Smith, a senior at Pierre, would be named the Outstanding Track Performer at the ESD on Saturday as she would get two wins, in the 100 and 400 meters including setting a new meet record.
Williams-Smith would run a 55.02 to set the new meet record on Saturday in Watertown as the Governor girls would get sixth, one point behind Yankton for a top five team finish. Williams-Smith was also second in the 200 while she would also get a third place finish in the 4×400 relay with Aubrey Fischer, Zoey Bauer and Emlyn Swanson. Devyn Van Roekel, Harper Shaffer, Emery Larson and Gwen Richter would get third in the 4×800 relay while Elliot Bertsch, Ellen Hart, Josephine Wurtz and Larson would be fifth in the medley relay. Brooke Hanson would be fifth in the 100 meter hurdles while Van Roekel was sixth in the 800 meters. Swanson would get sixth in the long jump.
The Governor boys would get fourth as a team on Saturday and also had a record broken as Caleb Morris would set the new school record in the 1600 meter run at 4:17.93 getting second place. Catcus Korkow would win the ESD discus throw for the Govs. Hayden Northrup, Jagger Gardner, Jayden Brandt and Lincoln Dilges would be second in the 4×400 while Dilges was second in the 110 meter hurdles and third in the 300 meter hurdles. Northrup was fourth in the 400 meters as well as getting fourth in the 4×100 relay with Dilges, George Rapp and Karson Walti and then the Walti, Northrup, Rapp and Cooper Terwilliger would get fifth in the 4×200. Noah Calvert was fifth in the triple jump.
