The regular season for high school baseball will conclude this weekend and the Pierre Governors will have two doubleheaders including tonight hosting the Stevens Raiders.
Pierre is currently in seventh place in the Class A standings, but the final two doubleheaders are against teams who are higher than Pierre in the standings with Stevens in fifth and Jefferson, Saturday’s opponent in fourth. Pierre can possibly catch each team with a sweep and potentially some extra help or at least other results not going the wrong way. Pierre is 19-5 overall and 15-5 in South Dakota play having won 13 of the last 14 South Dakota games and 17 of the last 18 overall. Stevens is 13-3 in South Dakota games and 19-5 overall. The Raiders beat Rapid City Central 21-11 on Tuesday.
