The Pierre Governor tennis team will be in Sioux Falls as Sioux Falls Christian hosts an invite as the Govs will play two matches Friday and another two on Saturday as Pierre looks to continue its midseason success.
The Govs are 5-9 on the season in duals but have won four of the last six duals including three of four at home over the past week. This weekend Pierre will face four Class A teams who they haven’t played to this point, as the Govs will face Milbank and Vermillion today and then Aberdeen Roncalli and Madison on Saturday. Milbank was coming into the week at 0-6 and facing Spearfish and St. Thomas More on Thursday before also getting Rapid City Christian on Friday along with the Governors. Vermillion was 3-7 coming into the long weekend with games played on Thursday against West River schools. Aberdeen Roncalli is 2-10 and will play its first games of the weekend today. The Cavaliers have wins over Rapid City Central and Spearfish with the Governors having wins over both teams. Madison shows they are just 2-2 in duals heading into the weekend with games on Thursday against St. Thomas More and Rapid City Christian.
Pierre will face Milbank at 2:00 and Vermillion to follow today with Saturday starting at 11:30 against Aberdeen Roncalli and then the dual against Madison to close the weekend will follow, all at Tomar Park in Sioux Falls.
