The Oahe Zap would share its 2026 schedule on Facebook on Monday, just about a month away from the start of the season as the Zap will play some different teams than in years’ past and the amount of teams participating is lower than last year.
In 2025, five teams competed for the Independence League title with three teams playing independently to balance out the schedule. This year, the Zap will face two other teams competing for the ILB championship with another three teams playing independently. The Zap will face instate rival Spearfish Sasquatch again while also taking on the Casper Spuds. Oahe will also face the Bison Baseball team and the Capital City Aviators, but will only travel to Spearfish and Casper and also will not play the Fort Collins Foxes. Two teams from last year, Hastings and Fremont are no longer in the Independence League. The Hastings Sodbusters have joined the Diamond Baseball League and the Fremont Moo have seemingly folded and will not play baseball this year.
Oahe will open the season the weekend of Memorial Day with games Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 22-24 hosting the Casper Spuds with games starting at 6:05 on Friday and Saturday with Sunday’s game at 5:05. The Zap have 48 games scheduled with 30 of those 48 at home. Oahe will play six of 10 Saturdays at home through the month of July. Oahe and Spearfish will meet for the first time since the 2025 Independence League Baseball Championship on Memorial Day May 25 in Spearfish and the series will run to the 27th before Spearfish comes to Pierre on Saturday, May 30.
