The Muskegon Lumberjacks and Dubuque Fighting Saints are tied at one game a piece in the best of five Eastern Conference Semifinals of the USHL playoffs with the Lumberjacks winning game two on Saturday.
Dubuque would take game one with a 2-1 score with both Fighting Saints goals coming in the third period. The Lumberjacks would score with the goalie pulled in the final minute to get within one, but could not find the tying goal. Pierreās Carter Sanderson had four shots on goal in the loss for Muskegon as the Lumberjacks outshot the Fighting Saints 26-19.
In game two, Muskegon would take a 6-2 win scoring two goals in each period as the Lumberjacks led 2-1 after one and 4-1 after two as the Lumberjacks again outshot Dubuque 33-17. Muskegon went 2-4 on the power play as Sanderson had three shots on goal in the win. However, he would leave the game with an upper body injury after the first period and did not return in the game. Games three and four are this coming weekend which gives him five full days between games to potentially not miss any time in the playoff series.
The series will for sure go at least four games with game three and four on Friday and Saturday in Muskegon with puck drop at 6:05 Central Time both days. Games are available to watch on Flo Hockey TV for a paid subscription.
