The Pierre Governor track and field team competed against 20 schools from both South Dakota and Wyoming and the Govs would come away with three victories on the day.
Caleb Morris would be a part of two of those three wins as he would pick up the 3200 meter run while also getting first in the sprint medley relay race with George Rapp, Porter Hunsley and Carter Schiefelbein. Charlee Williams-Smith had the other win in the 200 meter dash. For the Governor boys, Jerren Deal, Rapp, Schiefelbein and Karson Walti placed second in the 4×100 while teams Will Danburg, Cooper Terwilliger, Corde Austin and Hunsley were fifth. Austin also placed second in the long jump while taking home fourth in the high jump. Walti was third in the 100 meters and Deal, Rapp, Danburg and Schiefelbein were third in the 4×200 relay and Jayden Brant, Jagger Gardner, Danburg and Lincoln Dilges were fourth int he 4×400 relay. Digles was also third in the 110 meter hurdles.
The Governor girls would get a second place finish in the 4×400 from Emlyn Swanson, Zoey Bauer, Williams-Smith and Emery Larson while Ally Bauer, Swanson, Ellen Hart and Williams-Smith was third in the 4×200, Zoey and Ally Bauer, Reed Curry and Devyn Van Roekel were fourth in the 4×400 and Ally Bauer, Swanson, Brooke Hansen and Williams-Smith were fifth in the 4×100. Sorrine Ekle was third in the shot put and fifth in the discus while Larson was fourth in the 3200 meter run. Gwen Richter was fifth in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs and Peyton Dillman was fifth in the triple jump.
You can see a full list of the results below. The Governors will be back in action on the varsity side of things next week Friday at home for the Legion Relays. On Monday, April 20th, the Little Govs Track and Field Meet will be held at Hollister Field. The meet will begin at 6:00 pm with registration at 5:30 pm. Youngsters from pre-school through 6th grade are encouraged to attend this fun event. There is no entry fee.
