The Brookings Bobcats would hit seven home runs in the 22-6 three inning win over the Pierre Governors on Thursday having a 14 run second inning.
The Governors would open the game with a 4-0 lead in the top of the first as Micah Buffalo had an RBI single and Ava Nelson had a sacrifice fly, but the lead wouldn’t last through the bottom half as the inning as Brookings scored five runs to take a 5-4 advantage which included its first three home runs of the game, two being back-to-back shots. Another four home runs, also having back-to-back homers in the bottom of the second helped score 14 runs to take a 19-4 lead after two complete. Ava Nelson had a two run homer in the top of the third to make it 19-6, but another three run inning got the Bobcats to above a 15 run advantage ending the game in the bottom of the third. Kendal Linstad had two homers for the Bobcats who improve to 3-1 on the season while McKenzi Flottmeyer and Buffalo each had a double with Nelson’s homer for Pierre as the Govs drop to 2-2 on the season.
Pierre will travel out west next weekend facing Spearfish, Sturgis and Stevens Friday and Saturday.
