MILLER, (KOKK) — A long-time law enforcement officer is out of the job following a vote by the Miller City Council. The Council met in a special session on April 8th to discuss items relating to the Miller Police Department. One of those items was the resignation of Wayne Ames…
Alderman Will Jones was the lone no vote to accept the resignation. Miller Mayor Tom McGough told Riverfront Broadcasting station K-O-K-K in Huron, the vote was related to a personnel matter and could not explain the reason for the resignation. Ames was with the Huron Police Department from 1990 to 2009 when he resigned. Ames was hired later by Miller. He was recognized last October by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety for his work in improving traffic safety, specifically speeding violations. In an unrelated action, the Miller City Council approved the hiring of John Butler to replace the retiring Chris Hendrickson.
