The Pierre Governor softball team will be heading to Yankton tonight for its second game of the season after the home opener was postponed on Tuesday.
Both the Governors and Gazelles have beaten the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles with Pierre winning 17-0 in three innings and then Yankton beating Aberdeen Central 15-0 in four innings including throwing a no hitter. Yankton lost to Brookings 7-4 in the first game of the season last week. Pierre is playing for the first time since last week Tuesday after not playing Mitchell on Tuesday. The game between Pierre and Mitchell has been moved to May 14 as the Govs will have just one home game now until the end of the month, next week Tuesday against Watertown. Pierre will look to not let the nine days off have any rust in trying to get its second win of the season.
First pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:00 at Yankton Sertoma Park.
